How I Found My Biggest Adventure

Date: Forty years ago
Place: Public Library, Manchester, CT

The title of the book I randomly picked off the shelf was “The Country’s Most Beautiful Gardens.” As I was flipping through the pages I came to a chapter called Garden in the Woods located at the New England Wildflower Society in Framingham, MA. It was the words “Wildflower Society” that gave me a powerful AHA! Moment. I had never heard of an organization that cares for wildflowers. Until then I thought they just grew “wild” along the roadside. I immediately felt an intense desire, a need really, to learn more. So, I went home and did some research. Two months later I went on a Spring Wildflower Hunt.

After six delightful weeks of scouring the state to visit twenty state parks, preserves, and nature centers the hunt ended, but my journey was just beginning. You see, I had developed a passion for day tripping. And so, I just kept going, looking for other exciting places for leisure-time activities. Two years later, I had another AHA! Moment that eventually led to another passion. That was to write a day tripping, picnicking and recipe book.

This adventure put me on path that continues to this day!

ONE WAY TO FIND ADVENTURE IS TO LISTEN AND PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR AHA! MOMENTS. THEY COULD LEAD TO UNIMAGINABLE PLACES.
